From Weber & Hampel's workshop to a global family business
W&H Dentalwerk was founded in 1890 by precision engineers Weber and Hampel, who set up their workshop in the small town of Bürmoos in the Salzburg region of Austria. Their founding vision — building instruments of exceptional mechanical precision for dental practitioners — remains the company's defining principle more than 135 years later.
In 1958 the Malata Family acquired the company and embarked on a long-term strategy of reinvestment in manufacturing quality, research and development, and international expansion. Under Malata ownership, W&H grew from a regional Austrian manufacturer into a true global leader, establishing subsidiaries across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and beyond.
